Tropical Storm Approaches North Carolina

Tropical Storm Chantal is currently located approximately 14 miles southwest of Wilmington, a coastal city in North Carolina, according to reports from Reuters citing the US National Hurricane Center (NHC). The storm has intensified slightly, with wind gusts reaching up to 95 kilometres per hour. Chantal is expected to make landfall later today, and heavy rainfall has already begun to affect the coastline. Forecasters anticipate further significant rainfall, which could result in sudden flooding, particularly in low-lying areas.

Authorities in both South Carolina and North Carolina are advising residents to monitor weather updates closely and to avoid areas that may be hazardous due to the storm.

In a separate incident, the United States experienced severe flooding in Texas on Friday, resulting in the deaths of at least 50 people. Many of the victims were children attending a girls’ summer camp, and several individuals remain unaccounted for.
