Israeli Military Reports Intercepting Missile Launched from Yemen

Air raid sirens were activated in several locations across Israel after a missile was launched towards the country from Yemen, according to statements from the Israeli military. The military reported that the missile was intercepted and brought down during the incident, which occurred overnight from Saturday to Sunday.

Since the outbreak of the conflict in Gaza in October 2023, following attacks by Hamas on Israel, Yemen’s Houthi movement—an armed group backed by Iran—has carried out multiple missile and drone attacks targeting Israel. In response, Israel has conducted a series of strikes in Yemen, focusing on ports under Houthi control as well as the airport in Sana’a, the Yemeni capital, which is also held by the group.

The ongoing hostilities have contributed to heightened tensions in the region, with both sides engaging in cross-border actions since the escalation of violence in Gaza.
