Trump Proposes Reducing Tariffs on China from 145% to 80%

This announcement comes ahead of a weekend meeting where representatives from the United States and China are set to engage in discussions regarding the ongoing trade conflict between the two nations.

Currently, the United States has implemented a tariff rate of 145 percent on various Chinese goods, while China has responded with a 125 percent tariff on American products. The negotiations will take place in Geneva, Switzerland, where U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent will represent the American side, alongside other officials. On the opposing side, China's Vice Premier He Lifeng will lead the discussions for his country.
