WFP to Reduce Emergency Food Aid for Over One Million in Myanmar

Starting in April, more than one million individuals in Myanmar will lose access to vital food assistance from the World Food Programme (WFP) due to a significant funding shortfall, according to a statement from the United Nations agency. The WFP plays a crucial role in providing food and supplies to those in need across Myanmar and operates in 120 countries and territories worldwide.
The situation in Myanmar is dire, with the United Nations estimating that by 2025, approximately 15.2 million people will face food insecurity. Additionally, around 19.9 million individuals will require humanitarian assistance to meet their basic needs. The reduction in aid highlights the ongoing challenges faced by the country as it grapples with economic and social instability.
