Mean girl drama already in 1st grade?

She's only six and already being left out and talked down to at school—I didn’t think this would start this early 😣

My daughter just finished her first year of elementary school, and we’ve already run into some major issues with girl drama. She’s been excluded from games at recess, told she can’t sit with certain groups, and comes home saying things like “they said my shoes are ugly” or “they said I talk weird.” It breaks my heart because she’s sweet and just wants to play with everyone.

We’ve spoken with her teacher about it, and while he says he’s watching the dynamics, his response was something like, “I’m aware of it, but I don’t think we need to name names yet.” Honestly, I’m not sure what he’s waiting for. I get that it’s a sensitive age, but shouldn’t we be addressing patterns before they get worse?

What makes it harder is that the other parents don’t seem bothered, probably because their kids aren’t the ones being excluded. It’s not like I want to start drama with the parents, but it feels like no one else sees it as a problem. And when your kid starts to feel like there’s something wrong with them, it’s hard not to take action.

She’s going into 2nd grade soon, and I’m nervous. Will this just keep going year after year with the same girls? Has anyone else dealt with this and seen it get better, or worse? Did you end up switching schools? I really hoped we’d avoid all this until middle school, not first grade...
