Do other parents expect too much from me because I have only one child?

Lately, I’ve started to feel like some of the other parents in my son’s friend group expect me to take on more than my fair share of carpooling duties—just because I only have one child. My son is 12, and while I totally understand that sports and activities require teamwork from parents, I don’t see why I should be driving more often just because I don’t have multiple kids to juggle.

It’s not that I mind helping out. I actually do take extra turns sometimes because I like being part of the community. But when people start expecting it—assuming that I have all this extra free time just because I don’t have to coordinate around another child’s schedule—that’s when I start to get annoyed.

I don’t ask for special treatment as a single parent, and I don’t think it’s fair that I should automatically have to do more just because someone else has two or three kids. Shouldn’t we all contribute equally?

Curious to hear what others think—am I being unreasonable, or do you agree?
